Hank – Ernesto

hank collage rip 120615We are deeply saddened to tell you that Hank aka Ernesto crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night. He had an emergency and despite all efforts…he passed at the vets office. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his foster parents Trish and Jonathan Sceppa. Although Hank was only with them for a short while…they had quickly fallen in love with him and even renamed him Ernesto after Trish’s uncle. We hope they are comforted knowing they gave him a warm, safe, and loving home to live out his days. As heart broken as they are…may the fond memories of Hank make them smile. We know he’s not suffering anymore and is trying to explain to his new friends at the Rainbow bridge how he has 2 names! We will miss this “special angel” as Trish called him. 🙏🏻🐶🌈

Niko… Loved and adored

niko collage rip 120715Our hearts are completely broken today with the loss of precious Niko. He was loved and adored by many…most recently by Marcia Shapiro who permanently fostered him for the past 2 years. Niko came into CPR in 2011 at age 11 with a multitude of health issues. The main one being spinal disease. This didn’t stop this quirky guy…with the funny under bite from carrying his stuffed toys around the house! With Marcia’s love, adoration, and attention…Niko lived a beautiful life. We don’t think anyone will miss Niko more than his best bud Frankie. These two were inseparable and had a bond as if they were litter mates. Even until the end Frankie kept Niko company and watched over him as seen in the bottom picture. We know Niko left a huge paw print on your heart Frankie…as he did on all of ours. You will be missed Niko more than you’ll ever know. Rest in Peace sweet boy. 🐶🙏🏻🌈

Stubby

Stubby came to CPR ion March 2012.  He was owner surrendered when his family’s home was being foreclosed on.

Stubby made his personality known immediately at the Vet’s office by biting a vet tech!  Afterward, there was a hands-off policy initiated by the Vet’s office and a call went out to a CPR volunteer that had some experience working with dog training and behavior issues.  She was shocked by this handsome little pug’s behavior and said it was the worst that she had seen – especially in a pug! But, she said she’d take him on for an evaluation and some behavior training.

After a short time, the volunteer knew that Stubby would not be a candidate for adoption through the rescue.  His behavior was so extreme and unpredictable that they thought the only choice might’ve been to let him go. The CPR group was heartbroken at the idea of having to put to sleep a 7 year old – otherwise healthy – pug.  CPR and the Volunteer agreed that it could be possible for Stubby to live a happy life with people that understood his personality, could live with it and loved him for it anyway! Stubby was neutered, brought up to date on vaccination, had a dental done, had a cyst removed from his side and was put on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.  Today, Stubby continues to live in permanent foster care with that volunteer and is thriving!

Recently, Stubby (now over 13 years old!), had an abscessed tooth and was rushed in for an emergency dental/extraction.  He recovered nicely and is back to his old self!

Thanks to the generosity of CPR’s supporters, Stubby has gotten to live out the rest of his natural life to the fullest possible!  Stubby sends a huge Thank You to you all for your support over the years!

You went too soon Louie…

louie tribute image 071815We are sad to tell you that our Louie boy did not make it through his surgery yesterday. But we are comforted that he passed away feeling a great love from all of us at CPR and his foster parents Phillip and Kelli Salm. Louie was one of the happiest pugs we’ve ever known! He didn’t have a mean bone in his body and enjoyed saying Hi to everyone he met! He was a total food monster…could sniff out anything with his blood hound nose! Had a love for warm baths…and he enjoyed each one as if it was the first time he’d had one! To quote his foster dad..”It’s amazing how it takes years to let a human into your heart but a dog takes minutes.” Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Philip and Kelli for welcoming Louie into their home and lives. Louie you certainly left your paw print on our hearts and we hope the Rainbow Bridge greeted you with the biggest plate of food and the warmest bath! Rest in Peace sweet guy.
